Catalog description

Credits: 4 The first of three functional role courses enables students to socialize into the role of the nurse practitioner. Class content will address the direct care provider role of the nurse practitioner in relation to the evaluation and management of health and illness care of the young and expanding family. Intervention skills for the educator and counselor roles pertinent to primary care practice will be explored. The clinical portion of this course requires 8 hours per week for a total of 120 hours in the practice setting. Prerequisite: NURS 502, NURS 518, NURS 600. Corequisites: NURS 519 and NURS 541.
