Catalog description

The second course in a two course sequence that focuses on the illness phase of the health continuum. This course examines the origin and development of various acute and chronic conditions and their associated alterations in bodily structure and function. This course is designed to help the student develop an in-depth knowledge of the dynamic aspects of selected pathological processes, their clinical manifestations, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic modalities in which the professional nurse participates. It continues to build a bridge between the preclinical sciences (e.g., chemistry, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and introductory and developmental psychology) and the upper division clinical nursing courses.
