Catalog description

Communities are complex environments that can either support community members health or create obstacles to leading a healthy lifestyle. This course will have learners explore the components of health and how the community environment affects them. Learners will get hands on research experience as they work through the process of data collection and analysis, program design and implementation. The course uses a community initiative, the Healthy Lifestyle Coalition, as a model designed to address childhood obesity. Complex problems often need a multidimensional approach to work toward a solution. This research initiative involves community agencies in partnership with several departments from Binghamton University. Pre-requisites: None Format: On-site lecture/community activities
