This is a multi-faceted course that includes the following: (1) The preparation, memorization, staging, rehearsal, and performance of a staged opera or opera scenes; (2) An introduction to movement and dance that will expand the opera performer's movement vocabulary and will focus on communication through physical action; and (3) A study of stage techniques for singing actors that will include imagination, body language, improvisation, use of props, and the analysis of text and music. Offered in fall and spring semesters. This is a 1 credit course.
