Collegium Musicum

Each semester members of the Collegium Musicum, chosen by audition, will prepare and perform a program of about one hour of music consisting primarily of chamber music (one player per part) centered around the university’s William Dowd harpsichords and Hellmuth Wolff organ. Repertoire will be mostly from the 17th and 18th centuries, although the large modern literature for this instrumentation will not be neglected. In recent semesters concerts have represented the work of a single composer or a national school. Rehearsals will focus on style, articulation, ornamentation, and phrasing. Prerequisite: the ability to perform the repertoire being programmed, as determined by audition. Offered regularly.
