Catalog description

Students will learn the fundamentals of jazz keyboard as a means of developing skills in improvisation and performance on other instruments or voice. Topics covered will include basic piano skills; chord voicings, scales, and lead-sheet notation; basic comping patterns, rootless voicings and melodic improvisation over ii-V-I progressions. Placement in the course is based on advisement or audition; if you are interested in this course please contact the instructor. Placement in the course is by advisement of the instructor. Offered regularly in fall.
