Catalog description
This course, which assumes a thorough understanding of concepts encountered in Theory I through Theory IV, develops additional skills used to analyze form and musical structures of repertoire from the 19th and 20th centuries. These include phrase rhythm and sonata theory; Schenkerian analysis; implication-realization and semiotic analyses; Neo-Riemannian transformations, and pitch-class set theory.
