Beginning Piano is a course designed to provide a foundation in basic piano skills. Through in-class guided exercises and independent practice, students will learn to navigate the keyboard, develop proper technique, and implement keyboard skills in a musical context. The class format will focus on individual and group performance of basic keyboard skills; scales, arpeggios, and chords, as well as musical repertoire. Class format will continually introduce new lessons, while also repeating and reinforcing core fundamental topics. The core group will progressively build throughout the course, and based on overall progress of the class, emphasis will be placed accordingly on weak spots, learning gaps, and areas generally requiring the most attention.
