Catalog description

This is an advanced course for biomedical engineering graduate students. The course covers topics including material mechanical and surface properties, material degradation mechanisms, and microparticles and nanoparticles. These topics are discussed with a focus on cardiovascular, orthopedic, ophthalmological, and dental. Additionally, the biological response to materials is covered in-depth including inflammation, thrombosis, and immunity. Prerequisites: Graduate standing in BME or instructor approval. Offered in the Spring semester.
