Today’s world is more interconnected than ever before. Yet, for all its advantages, increased connectivity brings increased risk of theft, fraud, and abuse. As Americans become more reliant on modern technology, we also become more vulnerable to cyberattacks such as corporate security breaches, spear phishing, and social media fraud. With the continued rise in breaches and data leaks, along with reports covering topics like the high cost of threats, understanding external and insider threats thoroughly has become a high-level of concern. In this course, students from a variety of disciplines will become “cyber-interns” and work in teams with course faculty and industry experts as mentors utilizing the Brightspace platform. The content for the course covers core competencies e.g., knowledge, skills, and abilities relating to the identification, detection, protection against, response to, and recovery from an external and insider threat including how to build and maintain communications with executives and peers.
