Catalog description

Various technical advancements have recently created a novel context that affect the views and solutions for cyber security concerns. To reflect this context, this course covers emerging analytics techniques in the cyber security domain. It includes the use of applied machine learning (such as artificial intelligence, deep learning or neural network), big data analytics and visualization in detecting and preventing cybersecurity incidents. This will encompass designing mitigating controls to secure databases and information systems. Also, students will gain knowledge on planning for digital resilience and crisis recovery plans. Additionally, this course will prepare students to use advanced analytical techniques in the area of social cybersecurity (e.g. identification of misinformation/disinformation or data breach incidents). In general, this course enriches students’ profiles with an in-depth understanding and hands-on experience of state-of-the-art analytical trends in the cybersecurity domain. This understanding will ultimately bring benefits to both individuals and organizations, in technical and managerial perspectives. Prereq MIS 311.
