A foundation for thermal analysis is developed in terms of the physical modes of heat transfer and the formulation of math models. Theory of heat conduction, single-phase forced and natural convection, phase-change convection, and radiation and modern applications including microelectronics, biothermal and microscale processes are addressed. Prerequisite: BSME or equivalent or consent of instructor.
