Applied Mathematical Methods

Catalog description
The course covers a range of topics involving mathematical and numerical methods for solving engineering problems. The list includes: linear algebra, nonlinear equations, ordinary differential equations, Laplace Transforms, data analysis, statistics and numerical solution to partial differential equations. Both analytical and numerical techniques will be presented and applied to solve problems in mechanical engineering as well as other technical fields. The MATLAB computing environment will be used throughout the course for graphic, numerical computation and symbolic manipulation. Prerequisites: Calculus I-III; Ordinary Differential Equations. Offered in the fall.
