Catalog description

Basic principles of nonlinear dynamics and nonlinear oscillations. Topics include: equilibrium solutions, stability concepts, linearization and stability analysis, bifurcation types, periodic solutions, Floquet theory, bifurcations, shooting technique, Poincare section, introduction to quasi-periodic solutions, the method of multiple scales, and Chaos. (Technical Elective.) Prerequisite: ME 302 and ME 303. Semester offered varies.
