Catalog description
This interactive course focuses on the design, programming and building of autonomous microcomputer-controlled robots using Lego Mindstorm Robotic kit and electro-mechanical actuators and sensors. Student will find out how to use feedback from sensors, applied mathematics and measurement to program robot to navigate in its environment and accomplish different tasks. Advanced topics like robot motion control and path planning etc. will be introduced. The course comprises many small challenges and two projects. The autonomous robots designed and programmed by each student will compete during the semester. (Technical elective.) Prerequisites: ME 274, ME 303, and ME 392, Prerequisites that can be taken concurrently ME 424. Offered in the Fall and the Spring semesters.
