Properties of pure substances. Concepts of work and heat, fundamental laws of thermodynamics; closed and open systems. Entropy and entropy production. Basic gas and vapor cycles, basic refrigeration cycles. Prerequisites: PHYS 131. Offered in the Fall semester and in the Summer session.
