Catalog description

This course explores the impact of the Reformation on women and the impact women had on the theological, social, and cultural changes of the time. In this course, we will read primary sources like Protestant sermons and Catholic homilies, religious polemics and invectives, misogynistic pamphlets, and the testimonies of Catholic and Protestant women alike. We will also engage with how scholars have come to take more seriously the role of women in the history of this eventful period. Offered every 6-8 semesters.
