Catalog description
This course delves into the linear algebra over the real field. The topics include matrices, eigenvectors, eigenvalues, matrix rank, functions of a matrix, nonnegative matrices, stochastic and doubly stochastic matrices, positive- and nonnegative-definite matrices, projections, idempotent matrices, factorizations of a matrix, matrix inequalities, the least squares problem, optimization and matrix approximation, and quadratic forms. Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in Math 304 and Math 323. Offered regularly.
