Catalog description
The course provides a comprehensive foundation in the Japanese language, covering listening comprehension exercises, structured conversation, reading, grammar study, and an introduction to Japanese characters: hiragana, katakana, and 58 kanji characters. In addition to structured language instruction, students will explore aspects of Japanese pop culture, such as anime, manga, and contemporary media, as a way to enhance their understanding of real-world Japanese. The course is designed for students who have no prior formal training in Japanese. Offered annually.
