This course surveys the cinematic and televisual transformation of books across the 20th and 21st centuries. Adopting a broad definition of adaptation, students will study films, tv shows, videogames and memes based upon a variety of Italian literary sources (poetry, prose, theater). Includes a theoretical background in European notions of book-to-film adaptations. Comparing authors with filmmakers, literary with cinematic techniques, this course provides a broad overview of the Italian written and visual arts. Course taught in Italian.
