Catalog description

This is an intermediate course designed to develop learners’ skills in Italian language and culture, with emphasis on six skills: speaking, listening, interacting, reading, writing, and cultural awareness. Based on real-world themes and authentic texts, the course takes an integrated, communicative approach to language and culture development. Learners will hone their skills in the three modes of communication (interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational), allowing them to share new information and create various projects with local public-school students. The practicum introduces you to Italian culture and conversation and also asks that you engage in meaningful community service in the form of interaction with 6th grade students of a local school district. Lessons conducted in Italian. This course will require personal transportation to and from Union-Endicott Schools on occasion. Offered in fall.
