Catalog description
This course introduces the fundamental concepts and applications of process mining, with examples from healthcare domains. Students will learn to analyze and optimize processes to improve efficiency. Through case studies and real-world datasets, the course covers techniques for discovering, monitoring, and enhancing real processes using event data generated within the system. Students will engage in practical exercises to apply theoretical knowledge to complex scenarios, uncovering inefficiencies, ensuring compliance with protocols, and enhancing operational decision-making. By the end of this course, participants will be proficient in interpreting process data, understanding the flow of activities, and identifying actionable insights to drive improvements in various systems. Topics to be covered include Process Modeling and Analysis, Process Discovery, Advanced Process Discovery Techniques, Conformance Checking, Process Mining Software, Analyzing “Lasagna Processes”, Analyzing “Spaghetti Processes”, Cartography and Navigation in Process Mining, Applications of Process Mining, Healthcare Processes.
