Contemporary Food Issues

Catalog description

This course examines contemporary food issues in US society, while tracing the history of those issues to their origin. The course will analyze theory at the intersection of food, history, culture, politics, economics, science and technology. To engage contemporary food issues critically, students will begin to understand food origin, domestication, global dispersal and the social, scientific, and political paths that allowed these processes to occur, as well the problems these processes have posed in modern times.
