Chemical thermodynamics and phase equilibria applied to geological systems, principles governing the distribution and transport of elements in the Earth system, stable and radioactive isotopes, aqueous geochemistry and chemistry of natural waters, cosmochemistry. Gives students an understanding of geological processes through application of chemical principles. Simultaneously taught: GEOL 470*/GEOL 570 (*denotes primary course) Format: 3 lectures and 1 discussion each week
