Catalog description

This course will provide an overview of Earth’s history, beginning with the origin of the Earth, development and expansion of life that occurred in concert with major changes in the atmosphere, oceans, and mountain building events. Students will also be introduced to methods most commonly used to reconstruct Earth’s ancient and more recent past, and look at real data that led to the development of new geoscience theories. Three hours of lecture and one laboratory per week. Prerequisite: one four-credit 100-level geology course, or one of ENVI 206, ENVI 234, or GEOL 234. Fall,
