Catalog description

Biogeography combines ecology - the study of the relationship between living organisms and environment - with the traditional geographers’ concerns with the earth, earth history, spatial relationships, and the relationship between humans and environment. Given the growing concern over possible global changes being induced by human activities, biogeography is a particularly timely subject. In this course, the student will study basic ecological theory, evolutionary history in relationship to the movement of continental surfaces and climate change, and human/environment relationships. Prerequisites: GEOG 121 and/or an ecology course.
