Catalog description

Exploration of key cultural, social, and intellectual issues in the societies of the Francophone world. The course reinforces selected grammatical structures while advancing proficiency in speaking, listening comprehension, reading, and writing. Emphasis is placed on sustained conversational fluency, effective written expression, and cultural awareness. Designed to deepen cultural understanding and communicative effectiveness, FREN 241 prepares students for advanced coursework in French and Francophone cultural studies, linguistics, and literature, as well as for study abroad. Prerequisite: FREN 215, or equivalent, or permission of instructor. Native and heritage speakers must obtain permission of instructor. Offered regularly.
