Measuring the Natural World

Catalog description

This integrated lecture and field course provides hands-on experience in experimental design and measuring ecological data across organisms, populations, communities, and ecosystems. We focus on developing basic skills needed for many careers, including data management and visualization, wetland delineation, and field-surveying for plants or other organisms. Classwork will be done in groups to mimic the real world work environment. A final project will allow students to design a research proposal for potential future investigation as an undergraduate, a graduate student, or simply a curious citizen. Students will regularly travel between campus and Nuthatch Hollow. Prerequisites: ENVI 101 and ENVI 201. Offered spring only.
