ENG 280W Funny Women - Despite what your weird uncle has been telling you since you were 10 years old, women are, and always have been funny. It's only relatively recently, however, that women have become prominent voices in the world of humor. This writing-based course dismantles the preconceived notions about humor and gender, and acknowledges the impact and reach that women's voices have had on our culture through comedy in various forms, including but not limited to: television, literature, film, and stand-up. Humor is largely about different perspectives on ideas that most of us have taken for granted, and the women presented in this course - from Lucille Ball to Amy Schumer - are eager to and more than capable of providing their own.
