ENG 280P American Gothic Horror - Starting with stories by Nathaniel Hawthorne and Edgar Allan Poe, we will discuss works that exemplify the traditions of American Gothic horror. Students will write two five-page papers. Texts: Bailey, American Nightmares; Seton, Dragonwyck; Jackson, The Haunting of Hill House; Sager, Lock Every Door; Ware, The Turn of the Key, Stephen King's The Shining.
