ENG 280N The Animation Revolution - It's been a long time since animation made the transition in appeal from kids to adults, from "cartoons" to animated films. What began as childish silliness has evolved into a focal arbiter of opinion and social commentary. This course takes a close look at those shows sitting at the forefront of this movement: The Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, Boondocks, Rick & Morty and many others. Through writing, in class discussion, reading criticism, and viewing these shows students will better understand the importance of animated art within the fabric of our culture, and how they also help to shape individual meaning and identity.
