Climate Storytelling

How do we tell stories that impact climate change? We introduce students to Environmental Humanities and how to engage with climate and its effects, and how we redefine the human relationship to the natural world in response. We will explore ecological frameworks that ground our ideas about place, use real-life experiences to inspire narrative, and read examples of communicators in this modality, especially in Creative Nonfiction. Telling climate stories can be an important contribution to mitigation strategies for climate change, and we will discuss how this is the case as well as providing tools and space to do this. Offered spring or fall.
