This intensive 1-credit course is designed as a tutor-training course and changes each semester depending on the needs of current tutoring staff. Topics explored include tutoring methodology/pedagogy and English language teaching skills in grammar, phonetics, communication, writing, listening, reading, and culture. Students create materials based on lessons and skills, and reflect on the process, resulting in a portfolio of tutoring materials. The course is generally taken once before becoming a tutor, and concurrent with hiring, or as a LING or UEDU elective for those hoping to teach TEFL or begin a Master's in TESOL.
