Catalog description

This course traces the development of electric power systems from early experiments with electricity to today’s digital, decentralized energy future. Through historical and global lens, with a focus on New York State’s involvement, the course will explore how electric grids were developed, operated, and transformed. Students will engage with key inventions, historical figures, policy shifts, and societal impacts of electrification. Renewable systems modeling, control system design, power systems analysis techniques, and power system simulation tools will be introduced along with the historical developments. Prerequisite: EECE 341 or EDD 306.
