Catalog description

This course offers an introductory yet systematic exploration of the sustainability dimension of manufacturing processes and systems, accompanied by the computational toolkits and model-based strategies for operationalizing manufacturing sustainability. The course is divided into three modules, structured around the three levels of industrial systems: process (micro), factory (meso), and supply chain (macro). Ultimately, the course equips students with practical utensils such as manufacturing energy accounting, material flow mapping, and factory dymamics to address real-world sustainablilty challenges at both the process and system levels. Prerequisites: MATH 227. Semester offered varies.
