Race and Gender in Economics

Catalog description

This course uses economic methods to analyze various issues related to gender and racial differences. The central themes of this course are causality and policy evaluation. We will study various economic tools used to establish a causal relationship and do policy analysis. Using the developed economic tools, we will evaluate policies covering different aspects of gender and racial differences. Topics include education, employment, health, demography, time allocation between the household and the labor market, marriage, consequences of employment change for the family structure, theories of discrimination, and occupational and educational segregation.. Prerequisites: ECON 160 and college level statistics. Offered regularly.
