Catalog

CW 450B Advanced Fiction Workshop - PRE-REQ CW 250/350 Freshmen Restricted Advanced Fiction Workshop is designed to give students an intensive study and practice in the writing of short fiction. The focus is on student work, sharing and critiquing in a workshop format, and studying the elements of craft through reading, discussing, and writing about stories from our various story collections. Students will practice craft through weekly generative exercises, in addition to writing two developed stories, (substantial revision of first story can count as your second story), and a flash-fiction story. Students are encouraged to experiment with technique, style and voice, remembering that ultimately fiction writing is a process; therefore revision, "reseeing," developing, shaping and editing will also be discussed and encouraged.
