Ethics of Care

In the 1980s, Care Ethics emerged from a feminist critique of a perceived gender bias in standard moral theories. It has since gained wide appeal well beyond feminist circles for its practical and particularist approach to moral issues, marked by an appreciation of the uniqueness of each caring relationship. This asynchronous online course examines Care Ethics from critical-theoretical, political and literary perspectives, focusing on concrete issues ranging from everyday parenting concerns to abortion and euthanasia, or from a novel on an amputee to a discussion on climate change. Restricted to students enrolled in the RN-BS Online Nursing Program. Offered regularly.
