COLI 120
Narratives: North and South
Binghamton University · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
This course relies on the model of world literature as a modern, differentiated system proposed by Pascale Casanova. This worldwide system remains dynamic due to the interactions between two broad regions, the center and the periphery, or the Global North and the Global South. We will explore the reciprocal links of influence and response that bring together North and South by focusing on pairs of narratives from the European and North American center, on the one hand, and from the vast areas of the global periphery, on the other.
