This course examines intimacy as a keyword within both feminist theoretical and creative practices. We will consider how feminist theorizations of intimacy allow us to rethink the relationship between private and public spheres, between the personal and the collective, and between the domestic and broader cultural and political structures. We will explore how feminist creative practices (spanning literature, film, and other media) similarly frame the intimate, the personal and the domestic as intersecting with political and historical processes. Finally, we will open onto broader discussions about feminist scholarly methods and our relationships to our objects of study.
