Catalog description

An exploration of the range of gendered representations that cinema makes available as “femininity” by the combination of image, sound and narrative organization. Course considers the collaboration of makers (star, director, studio, critic, spectator, etc.) in this imaginative process and seeks to draw some conclusions about the pleasures cinema makes available through female representation. Includes discussion and writing about texts theorize that how the cinematic apparatus is implicated in creating the female image and spectators for that image.
