Catalog description

State-of-the-art materials related to energy conversion, energy storage and sustainable energy generation will be introduced. The contents include materials preparation (general), crystal structure, fundamental reaction/working mechanisms, typical applications, and present challenges. Selected examples in frontier topics such as thermoelectric materials, fuel cell catalysts, Li-ion battery components and solar cell progress will be discussed. Participation of student presentation in a selected topic is required. This is an introduction course for majors in Chemistry, Materials, Applied Physics and Engineering.
