Catalog description
Capstone project course for graduating chemistry majors focused on literature research on current topics in chemistry. Students will use and evaluate primary chemical literature and library resources, provided by a science bibliographer, as part of an independent project. Development of written and oral science communication skills through assignments. They will present an instructor approved literature research project in formats pertinent to current scientific communication including an oral presentation. The course will meet once per week. EVALUATION: Each student will receive a letter grade based on a series of assignments, written and oral, aimed at achieving the desired learning outcomes of the course. 10% of the grade will be based on an ACS diagnostic tool administered at the end of the semester during exam week. Restriction: Chemistry majors in their graduating year. Prerequisite: CHEM394; CHEM 221; CHEM341; CHEM351 or CHEM361. Offered every fall and spring.
