Catalog description

Students experimentally measure physical properties of chemical systems. Topics range from thermodynamics to macromolecular structures with experimental approaches that include spectrometric, potentiometric, thermal, and mechanical methods. A strong emphasis is placed on error analysis, statistical interpretation of data, and written communication of experimental results. Students also propose, design, and perform experiments to address their novel hypotheses. Laboratory. Prerequisite: CHEM 351 or 361 and CHEM 221.
