BME 570Advanced Bioinformatics

This course covers advanced topics in modern bioinformatics. An applied approach is taken to provide students with operational knowledge of current tools, databases, and technologies. Topics include (but are not limited to) database searching, sequence alignment, molecular phylogeny and evolution, DNA sequencing, analysis of microarray data, and protein analysis and proteomics. The course includes computer labs as part of the lectures that cover computational tools used to analyze sequence, structural and functional data. Prerequisites: Graduate standing in BME and programming experience in R or Matlab, or instructor approval. Fall semester. 3 credit hours.
