Catalog description

This course offers students basics of the Python with a focus on biomedical data analysis. The course covers the fundamentals of Python programming, such as data types, control structures, functions, object-oriented programming, and modules. In addition, the course introduces students to biomedical data manipulation, visualization, and analysis using popular Python libraries including but not limited to NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Scikit- Learn, Biopython, PyMOL, and lifelines, among others. By the end of the course, students will gain a strong foundation in Python programming for biomedical data analysis and will be able to apply skills learned from this course to real-world biomedical datasets. Prerequisites: Instructor approval. Offered in the summer. Credits: 3
