Catalog description
This is a lecture-based course for engineering, science, and mathematics students interested in learning basic quantum physics theory and its application to biology. The course covers the Schrodinger equation, introduction to linear algebra, formalism of quantum physics, enzymes, olfaction, bird navigation, photosynthesis, evolution, and consciousness. For each of the biophysical topics covered, we will compare and contrast classical versus quantum understandings. Prerequisites: MATH 227.
