Catalog description

Structure and function of major endocrine organs; roles of hormones in regulation of physiological processes, including reproduction, differentiation, growth, metabolism, and ion, mineral and water balance, mechanisms of hormone synthesis and action. Emphasis on basic knowledge derived from mammalian endocrine systems; some consideration of other vertebrates and applied and clinical aspects. Lecture only. Prerequisites: BIOL 311 or 347 or 430 or consent of instructor.
