Catalog description

Introduction to the organization and function of nervous systems in vertebrates and invertebrates. Topics include cell biology of neurons, physiology of excitable membranes and electrical signaling by neurons, sensory mechanisms, simple circuits and behavior, development and regeneration of nervous tissue. Emphasizes molecular neurobiology as it relates to understanding the function of ionic channels, second messenger systems, and learning and memory. Prerequisite: BIOL 113.
