Catalog description

Considers cellular chemistry and its relationship to physiology, focusing on carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. The structure, function and regulation of membranes, receptors, and transporters will be explored along with the intracellular enzymes and metabolites active in signaling pathways. This course is appropriate for students interested in pursuing professional programs in health sciences. Biochemistry majors or students interested in more of a research focus should take BIOL/BCHM 403. (Students that have taken BIOL/BCHM 403/BIOL 502, cannot receive credit for BIOL 304.). Prerequisite: CHEM 231 and 332. Offered each fall and spring.
